John Lindsay is President and CEO for Helmerich & Payne, Inc. He graduated in 1986 from The University of Tulsa with a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering.
Mr. Lindsay joined Helmerich & Payne International Drilling Co., the Company's wholly-owned drilling subsidiary, in 1987 and began his career with the Company as a drilling engineer. He has since served in various positions, including Operations Manager from 1992 to 1997, Vice President, U.S. Land Operations from 1997 to March 1, 2006, and Executive Vice President, U.S. and International Operations from March 1, 2006 to December 7, 2010. Mr. Lindsay held the position of Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for the parent Company, Helmerich & Payne, Inc., from December 7, 2010 to September 5, 2012, before being named President and Chief Operating Officer. Effective March 5, 2014, Mr. Lindsay was became President and CEO.
As of September 2014, Helmerich & Payne, Inc. operates a total of 379 rigs with 335 land rigs in the U.S., 35 international land rigs and nine offshore platform rigs. Mr. Lindsay serves on the Board of Directors for Helmerich & Payne, Inc., TerraVici Drilling Solutions, Inc. (a subsidiary of Helmerich & Payne, Inc.) in Houston, Texas, as well as the following not for profit institutions in Tulsa, Oklahoma; Monte Cassino Catholic School, Tulsa Area United Way and The University of Tulsa's Petroleum Engineering Advisory Board. Additionally, he served as 2008 Chairman of International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC), and remains on the executive committee.
